The archive of the Fritz Bauer Forum, founded in 2020

Long-term security

About the archive

As part of its research, publication and exhibition activities, the Fritz Bauer Forum collects various sources such as files, grey literature, leaflets, magazines, posters, photos and audiovisual media on contemporary history. The focus is on the life story of Fritz Bauer, the Nazi injustice and the fight against impunity, the history of resistance and survival (biographies) as well as cultures of remembrance worldwide.

Furthermore, a large part of the collection consists of the “Bochum Political Archive”, a newspaper and magazine archive dating back to the 1960s, which was taken over in April 2022. Anti-racism, subculture, critical theories, the labour movement, ecology and internationalism are the main topics.

Over time, the archive will be expanded to include new materials on resistance as a history of the struggle for human rights. We are grateful for enquiries and information on collections. Digital finding aids will be made available in the coming years.

The Fritz Bauer Archive has a magazine and workstations. Please register your visit.

Opening hours

The archive will be open to users from the end of 2025.
