with Dr Monika Hauser, Alternative Nobel Prize winner 2009, founder of medicamondiale e.V., Dr Irmtrud Wojak, founder of the Fritz Bauer Library, Managing Director of BUXUS STIFTUNG gGmbH and many committed people and participants
The event on 28/29 September 2019 at the VHS Forum is the kick-off and first exciting opportunity to try it out. It will take place on the occasion of the online launch of the interactive Fritz Bauer Library with stories of resistance and survival.
Participants are cordially invited to familiarise themselves with the project and the first local and global stories that have been researched for the web and book project and put online. Alternative Nobel Prize winner Dr Monika Hauser from Cologne will talk about her experiences and the fight for women’s rights. Three stories from Bochum will also be presented. The Bochum-based theatre Traumbaum, which will take part in the opening with highly topical interventions, will provide surprises and food for thought.
After the lunch break, workshop participants can try out the interactive library for themselves, discover stories, research them themselves and post the initial results online. They will be supported by workshop facilitators who have already gained experience with the library.
With its database, the Fritz Bauer Library is a research, education and encounter project. It tells the stories of people who often give their lives for this world. On the second day, participants will learn about the story of the writer and activist Gabriela Brimmer, who played a key role in shaping the disability movement in Mexico.
Finally, participants will present their own researched stories of the fight for human rights. Everyone is invited to actively participate and thus spread the recognition of human rights.
The library will continue to expand over the next few years, while the BUXUS FOUNDATION is also looking for a venue for its Fritz Bauer projects and workshops.
