Learning by remembering

As part of a student project, six students from the Ruhr University Bochum have been investigating the history of Bochum during the National Socialist era and have created a collection and digitalised version of Bochum’s places of remembrance.

The diverse results of their work, which have been published under the name „ Learning by Remembering „, can be accessed on a specially created website. The core of the project is the ‚Map of Remembrance‘, on which more than 550 places have been painstakingly recorded and some of which have been provided with explanations. The places listed on the map commemorate the National Socialist era in Bochum and the surrounding area as well as the numerous citizens of the city of Bochum who fell victim to National Socialist crimes.
