In 1920, the people of the Ruhr region saved our then still young republic from the military coup under Kapp-Lüttwitz. Risking their lives, they saved democracy with great civil courage.
These events have been forgotten or suppressed today. We bring the fates and stories of this time to life on stage, because today our democracy is once again under acute threat. Although 100 years have passed since then, our society is once again caught in the same field of tension: back then between the democratic equality of all people against nationalist militarism, today between peaceful commitment to human rights and ecology, Refugees Welcome and Fridays for Future, against the new extreme and violent nationalists.

The Thetaer Traumbaum is an independent theatre for children and young people. The complete ensemble and our staff consists of the director and artistic director:

complemented by Klaus Jochmann, who composes and produces the music for the plays.
