The memory of the „March storms of 1920“ became the unforgettable „Autumn storms of 2020“
In most history books, the events only appear as a footnote, but in 1920, the people of the Ruhr region saved the then still young republic from the military coup under Kapp-Lüttwitz. At the risk of their lives, they saved democracy with great civil courage. Today, all of this has been forgotten, suppressed or distorted by the National Socialists.
Under difficult pandemic conditions, Theater Traumbaum brings fates and stories from the period August 1914 to April 1920 to life on stage, because even today, although 100 years have passed in between, our society is once again caught in the same field of tension: then between democratic equality for all people against nationalist militarism, today between peaceful commitment to human rights against the new extreme and violent nationalists who are populistically pushing their way into the centre of our society.
