"When I leave my office, I enter hostile territory"

This was the view of the lawyer and resistance fighter Dr Fritz Bauer on the failed confrontation with the National Socialist unjust state. How can the memory of the worst crimes in history be turned into action based on human rights?

Fritz Bauer Archive digitally engaged

We are delighted to have received funding from the German Federal Cultural Foundation for our interactive research and web project. The „Fritz Bauer Archive digitally engaged“.

The planned digital, interactive project pursues a radically new approach. It poses the question of Fritz Bauer’s ethical, moral and political orientation. Can Bauer’s perception and positioning as a resistance fighter still provide answers to the threatening issues of today and serve as a guide to action in defence of democracy and human rights?

We think: Yes! And we are once again trawling through Fritz Bauer’s work and the large amount of film and source material available from the Fritz Bauer Archive of the Fritz Bauer Forum in Bochum. For the first time, it will be presented on an interactive website and retold in text, images and film.

More soon from the Fritz Bauer Forum under construction in Bochum…!
