Rula Daood
Lecture and discussion in English
Rula Daoo, National co-Director of Standing Together and Nadav Shofet, director of the International Department of Standing Together, will be connected online via Zoom to talk about the work of Standing Together. The goal of the grassroots social movement is both simple and challenging: to build a new majority within Israeli society that supports peace, equality, and social and environmental justice. Their vision is a society that serves everyone and treats every person with dignity. A society that chooses peace, justice, and independence for Israelis and Palestinians, Jews and Arabs. A society in which everyone enjoys real security, adequate housing, quality education, good healthcare, a liveable climate, a decent salary, and the ability to age with dignity.(https://www.standing-together.org/en/about-en)
Rula Daood, a Palestinian citizen of Israel, was born and raised in the Galilee village of Kfar Yasif. Rula began her professional life as a speech pathologist before becoming a committed political activist, organising around Jewish-Arab partnership in Israel’s mixed cities. Since joining Standing Together in the late 2010s, Daood’s leadership has played a critical role in the movement’s dramatic growth and success. Alongside Alon-Lee Green, she was recently featured as one of TIME magazine’s 100 emerging global leaders of 2024.
Nadav Shofet has a background in community organising and LGBTQ advocacy, and is currently finishing a degree in Philosophy. Following October 7th, he took part in founding the Jewish-Arab solidarity guard in Tel Aviv-Yafo.
