Information on
Film screening „… and that you remain silent for two days under torture!“, followed by a discussion and talk with Dr Anja Stuckenberger (Director of the Evangelische Stadtakademie Bochum) and Dr Dorothee Weitbrecht (Managing Director of the Elisabeth Käsemann Foundation), who will be joining us online from Stuttgart.
Director: Frieder Wagner and Osvaldo Bayer, documentary film, 45 min., German (without subtitles), Germany and Argentina 1991
The documentary film is dedicated to the story of Elisabeth Käsemann, a student living in Buenos Aires at the time. She came from a Protestant family and was influenced by the 1968 student protests centred around Rudi Dutschke. The film traces the path of a woman who followed her inner voice to the last consequence – right up to her violent death. It also documents the futile struggle of Elisabeth Käsemann’s parents for justice after the death of their daughter. Frieder Wagner and Osvaldo Bayer’s documentary is an indictment of the role of the German government, which maintained excellent economic relations with the Argentinian military junta and probably did not stand up for the life of Elisabeth Käsemann and other German prisoners.
Followed by a discussion and talk with Dr Anja Stuckenberger (Director of the Evangelische Stadtakademie Bochum) and Dr Dorothee Weitbrecht (Managing Director of the Elisabeth Käsemann Foundation), who will be connected online from Stuttgart.
