Information on
Edelweiss Pirates – this was the name given to groups of young people in the 1930s and 1940s who opposed the Nazis and organised themselves primarily against the Hitler Youth. They organised themselves in Dortmund, but also in the Ruhr region and the Bergisches Land and often wore the edelweiss carved from horn under their shirt collars. In Dortmund, the Edelweiss Pirates called themselves „Latscher“. Many of their members helped forced labourers, printed leaflets and composed songs against the Nazis.
After the city tour, there is the opportunity to visit the Steinwache memorial site.
