Fritz Bauer 1903-1968: The life and work of a lawyer with a sense of freedom

The SPD local association Mittenwald & Oberes Isartal invites all interested citizens to a lecture on the lawyer Dr Fritz M. Bauer.

The historian Irmtrud Wojak, author of the new biography of the human rights fighter published in 2016, will talk about his life and work. The event will also commemorate the brutal persecution and expulsion of the Jewish population from Germany on 9 November 1938. Fritz Bauer, who survived imprisonment in a concentration camp, and his sister Margot and her family, had fortunately already found a safe country of asylum in Denmark in 1938. His parents narrowly escaped the Nazi henchmen after the pogrom and also fled to Copenhagen. But their safety was short-lived: in 1943, the Nazi invaders wanted to deport the Jews from Denmark as well.
