Film screening
After a long time, a cinema film is once again dedicated to Hannah Arendt – activist, media personality and fearless thinker „without railings.“ Original quotes from Arendt’s essays and letters, performed by Nina Hoss, as well as atmospheric archive footage create an intimate portrait of an intellectual whose life was shaped by the experience of Hitler fascism and the incomprehensibility of the Holocaust. The film shows how Arendt, as a Jew and resistance fighter, sought to understand the world – and why her thoughts on the catastrophes of the 20th century speak directly to us in the here and now.
The haunting documentary „Hannah Arendt: Thinking is Dangerous“ portrays one of the most important political theorists of the 20th century and follows her journey from her escape from National Socialism to her tireless commitment to intellectual freedom – told through her own words and rare archive material.
