Shortly before Human Rights Day 2024 on 10 December, the „Human Rights Day Forum“ is hosting an event on the topic of „Human rights in the climate crisis“.

Lina Ebbecke studied law in Hamburg, Santiago de Chile and Strasbourg. After graduating, she researched ecocide as an international crime and became a consultant for the climate group of Amnesty International Germany. Maren Solmecke studied law at the Ruhr University in Bochum and at the Universidade de Lisboa in Portugal. She has also been active in the climate movement for several years, particularly in the field of climate education. As a scholarship holder of the Joachim Herz Doctoral Programme for Law and Transformation at Leuphana University Lüneburg, she is currently conducting research on solving legal problems in connection with the climate crisis. Her doctoral project is dedicated to the legal issues surrounding the implementation and enforcement of a UN fund for climate-related loss and damage, as agreed at COP27.
