Information on
Amnesty International Bochum, Bochum Adult Education Centre, Bochum City Library, Fritz Bauer Forum, Children’s and Youth Ring and the Bochum Music School invite you to the small hall of the Anneliese Brost Music Forum.
Dr Yasmin Schulten-Jaspers (Head of Studies at the Journalism Centre in Herne) and Hanna Püschel (PhD student at TU Dortmund University) will discuss Article 19 (freedom of information and expression) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Afterwards (from 8pm), the Transorient Orchestra Community will perform with Ahmet Bektas (oud), Oliver Schroer (piano) and Reza Samani (tombak)
What does Article 19 (freedom of information and expression) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights mean?
How does it affect the work of journalists?
What is the state of press freedom in Germany and the world in times of war, climate crisis, displacement and migration?
What can individuals do to protect freedom of information and expression?
These questions will be discussed by Dr Yasmin Schulten-Jaspers (Head of Studies at the Journalism Centre Herne) and Hanna Püschel (PhD student at TU Dortmund University).
The Transorient Orchestra Community with Ahmet Bektas (oud), Oliver Schroer (piano) and Reza Samani (tombak) will be playing from 8pm onwards
The Transorient Orchestra brings the transcultural soundtrack of the Ruhr metropolis to life. The current line-up brings together musicians with cultural roots in Germany, Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Tunisia.
Dr Yasmin Schulten-Jaspers, a trained news agency journalist and journalism lecturer, is the Director of Studies at the Journlisten-Zentrum Herne. As a journalism professor at the private UE University of Applied Sciences in Iserlohn, she was most recently head of the Journalism & Corporate Communications degree programme. Among other things, she teaches news writing and media ethics at the JZH and the TU Dortmund.
Hanna Püschel completed her law studies in 2020 with the 1st state examination at the Ruhr University Bochum and has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Journalism Studies – Chair of Media Law at the TU Dortmund University since 2021 alongside her doctorate. Her research and teaching focuses on data protection law and European law.
