Lecture and Talk
Orli Bach, Ph.D is a clinical psychologist in Israel, who works in an association which is at the frontier of therapy and research of individual and collective trauma. In the last few years, she has also been very actively involved in the Peace Movement in Israel and in the non-violent Resistance movement, intensely struggling to safeguard the Israeli Democracy and to stop the war. She is visiting Germany as part of an endeavor to establish a Center for Humanity and Justice named after her father, in collaboration with the Fritz Bauer Forum.
Her father, Justice Gabriel Bach, fled Nazi Germany as a young boy, and served some years later as prosecutor in the historical trial of Adolph Eichmann in Jerusalem. He later became the General State Attorney and then a Judge in the Supreme Court of Israel. He dedicated his life to standing up for human rights, Liberalism and the rule of law, as well as raising consciousness to the implications of the Holocaust, while building strong bridges between Israel and Germany.
Her grandfather, Yehuda Arazi rescued dozens of thousands of Holocaust survivors in his position as the chief commander of the heroic „Aliya Bet Secret Operations“- the post-World War II clandestine immigration to the Land of Israel.
In her lecture Dr. Bach will discuss the impact of the legacy of these two leaders, and how they can serve as role models for her and for others, to find the courage and compassion, even in very dark times, to keep on fighting for basic human values, and to remember that each one of us can stand up and make a difference.
The lecture, followed by a discussion, will be video-taped, and the recording will be made available to the public.
