Lecture and discussion

The solitary confinement system in Imrali, whose best-known prisoner is Abdullah Öcalan, violates the fundamental human rights of prisoners, including the right to hope under Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights after more than 25 years of imprisonment. The speaker will report on the current situation of political prisoners in Turkey and the legal and political struggles resulting from this serious human rights situation. Particular attention will be paid to the challenges faced by the prisoners and their families and the international reactions to these conditions.

Speaker: Rengin Ergül
