Talk to mark the opening of the exhibition
Judith Büthe’s travelling exhibition “Between Yesterday and Tomorrow” features large-format photographs and video portraits displayed in public spaces.
Twenty-five residents of Bochum offer personal perspectives on the city, belonging and participation. This artistic-documentary work depicts the city as a living space – shaped by personal stories, contradictions and the daily negotiation of creative freedom.
The exhibition will be on display at the Fritz Bauer Forum from 3 September 2026 to 11 October 2026; we will be opening the exhibition with a discussion with Judith Büthe, to which everyone is warmly invited.
Judith Büthe is a photographer, journalist and conceptual artist specialising in social documentary photography, portraiture and reportage. Her work emerges from close encounters with her subjects – with the aim of making social realities visible . She lives in Bochum and works internationally, particularly in the cultural sector, for NGOs and social projects. Following her training with photographic artist Horst Wackerbarth, she studied photojournalism at the Freie Journalistenschule Berlin. Since 2011, she has been working for NGOs, magazines and publishers – with a focus on social change, culture and socio-economic issues. Her work has received numerous awards and has been exhibited across Europe – including at the German Bundestag, the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf and the European Parliament.
