Whether on the throne, in the courtroom or on the world’s oceans: Women have made history – but not only as heroines. Some fought admirably for their goals, others put themselves above their fellow men, pursued economic gain above all else or chose controversial alliances to assert their interests. Jasmin Lörchner, the voice behind the podcast „HerStory“, presents twenty multi-faceted women: From the Egyptian ruler Hatshepsut to the German lawyer Elisabeth Selbert and the Chinese pirate Zheng Yisao. She portrays protagonists with a fighting spirit and protagonists with dark sides: Women who still fascinate us today.
Jasmin Lörchner will be presenting some of these courageous stories at the Fritz Bauer Forum on 1 March 2024 from 6 pm and we would like to talk to her about them. Afterwards, the author will sign books.
Jasmin Lörchner, born in 1985, studied linguistics and communication science, history and economics. She has been working as a freelance journalist since 2014 and writes for Spiegel Geschichte, among others. Since 2020, she has hosted the podcast „HerStory“ about women and queer people who belong in the history books.
The book was published by Herder-Verlag in 2023 and can be purchased online here or directly at the event.
