Not least since the terrorist attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023, there has been an increase in anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim resentment in German society. As a result, teachers at schools as well as police and judicial officers are exposed to emotionally charged situations and discussions, for example in the classroom or at demonstrations.
Together with our cooperation partner New Israel Fund Deutschland e. V. (Berlin), we are developing an innovative programme for the promotion of democracy and human rights education for schools and trainees in the police and judiciary, which focuses on civil society engagement, the promotion of pluralistic perspectives and the reduction of prejudices. We want to strengthen democratic coexistence and address key challenges of our time.
The project, which is funded by the BMBFSFJ as part of the „Demokratie Leben!“ programme, aims to address historical and current conflicts, with a particular focus on civil society perspectives on the Middle East conflict and its historical connection to the Holocaust.
