Our garden is being created around the library, the landmark of the Fritz Bauer Forum

In harmony with nature
Gardens can be places of remembrance, inspiring a personal journey through time in the footsteps of history and our humanity.
Just as plants need enough water and light to prevent them from withering, so people need one another to carry on living and growing.
We hope that our garden will be a source of inspiration for this idea. A place of retreat, yet not nostalgic. A place of remembrance, but not one that looks solely to the past. Rather, a place that inspires us to set out anew.
Together with landscape architect Michael Tänzer, we want to create a climate-resilient garden that requires less water and, above all, no chemicals.
We have incorporated the existing trees and shrubs into our plans. The extensive paving in front of the Forum’s basement, which was already in place, has been removed. Removing this paving has created a large area for new planting and for rainwater to seep into the ground.
The Garden of Diversity is intended to provide habitats for plants and animals. It will also offer places of retreat for all those visiting the Forum who wish to discover the garden as a source of renewal.

Remembrance
In the ‘Stories that take root’ project, we would like to dedicate trees to some of the people who fought for human rights and democracy and from whom we can learn, especially with regard to the challenges of the present.
