Everyone means EVERYONE! | Event to mark Human Rights Day

To mark International Human Rights Day, vhs Bochum, Bochum City Library, the Fritz Bauer Forum, the Bochum Children’s and Youth Association and the Amnesty Bochum university group are hosting an event in collaboration with the Department for Equality, Family and Inclusion.

The event will explore how human rights operate – or fail to operate – away from the public eye. It invites you to listen and bring forgotten perspectives to light. Together, we want to discuss what is needed and highlight what people are already doing to ensure that human rights are truly upheld for everyone.

We will begin with an introductory talk and a short keynote address (including one by Prof. Dr Sabine Bernot (Professor of Law, evH)) on the topic of ‘Human Rights – Forgotten Perspectives’.

Afterwards, various initiatives active in Bochum will briefly introduce themselves and outline their perspectives, challenges and activities.

Sign language interpreting will be provided for the event on request. Please let us know your requirements as early as possible, by 19 November 2026 at the latest.

Please note: The event will take place at the Bochum Adult Education Center, Gustav-Heinemann-Platz 2-6, 44787 Bochum, in the Lore-Agnes Room.

An event organised by the Human Rights Day Forum ( Bochum Adult Education Centre, Bochum City Library, Bochum Children’s and Youth Association, Amnesty Bochum University Group and the Fritz Bauer Forum) in cooperation with the City of Bochum’s Department for Equality, Family and Inclusion
